Education
and Registration
Steve is a 1971 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Since then he has completed short courses in storm water control and hydrology engineering through the University of Wisconsin, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ). He was licensed as a Professional Engineer in 1976 and became a principal of the firm in 1991.
Experience
Steve began work at GEI following graduation from college, first as a survey crew member and later as a design engineer and resident engineer. From 1974 to 1979, he worked at Peckham Engineering, performing construction staking, design of pavement sections and storm sewer systems, and project engineering for various airports. Following that, Steve was employed in the asphalt business for ten years, holding the position of estimator, manager of a milling division, and vice-president of sales and marketing. Steve returned to GEI in 1989. His extensive construction knowledge and design experience are important components in producing a quality project for our clients. As would be expected, Steve is very familiar with county, state and federal road design and construction standards. He is also well known to persons in charge at these various agencies. Steve is presently directing all civil engineering operations relating to both public and private sector design projects.
